L11 - Saylor Place

L11 - Saylor Place - Ray & Myrtle and Wayne and Dale lived here Wayne's 4th and 5th grades. Wayne has photos of the family standing in front of the house. The house had a phone, which was very modern. It was the end of the line for the King City school bus, which Ray drove. The home was owned by Floyd & Barbara Patterson (Barbara's maiden name was Saylor). Floyd had given Dale a model Caterpillar tractor toy with rolling tracks. Wayne was jealous, and in anger at Dale over something ran over the toy with a wheelbarrow and broke it. After Ray got home that night, he took Wayne behind the woodshed and gave him a major whippin' (that Wayne now acknowledges he deserved).
Regarding the photo below: Jack met Dorothy in 1938 while working at a dairy in King City, where he was a delivery boy and she was a bookkeeper. Jack and Wayne still both vividly remember going down the lane, shown here, to fetch the cows the first time they met. (35.90939166, -121.0316151)
