L12 - Getzelmann Place - The Lockwood Valley was once known as Starvation Flats because of the lack of water. Grandpa Absalom Boone Ford used to raise peaches and sell them to residents of the valley. Lucille Getzelmann moved into the Ray & Myrtle home a few months after Wayne was born, and lived there for a year or two while she was a teacher at the Hesperia School. Even well into her 90's she would drive into Paso to do her own shopping. At her funeral, they started late on purpose in honor of Lucille, who was ALWAYS late for church. (Actually, this photo is not taken of or from the Getzelman place; it's off beyond the left margin of the image.) (35.906124, -121.0137504)
